Before Saturday’s opening round of the Loddon Valley league season Mitiamo had lost its previous 19 games against Bridgewater, which included a pair of grand finals in 2015 and 2016.
The Superoos hadn’t toppled the Mean Machine since their last premiership season of 2009 when they defeated Bridgewater 21.14 (140) to 14.10 (94) in round 12.

Their next 19 games against the Mean Machine were all losses by an average of 59 points before they broke the shackles of Bridgewater last Saturday with their 11.14 (80) to 7.13 (55) victory.
While the Superoos laid to rest their losing run against Bridgewater, another continued in the AFL Central Victoria region when North Bendigo maintained its dominance over Mount Pleasant.
The Bulldogs’ 25.16 (166) to 4.5 (29) thrashing of Mount Pleasant was their 19th-straight win over the Blues.
The Blues haven’t sang their song after a win over North Bendigo since they defeated the Bulldogs 17.10 (112) to 14.8 (92) in round 14, 2008 when Cameron Carter was coach.
The region’s longest unbroken period of dominance of one team over another remains Golden Square’s string of 34-straight wins over Kangaroo Flat, followed by Calivil United’s 31 wins on the trot against Inglewood.
