Paul Dalton and Gerry Bateman are participants in the Tour de Cure, a cycling event in support of cancer prevention, research and care projects.
Paul will be among the cyclists undertaking the 1100-kilometre course from Mackay to Cairns from April 27 – May 5.
Gerry will be part of the support crew.
Both Paul and Gerry will have in their thoughts someone dear to them throughout the nine-day journey – Janette Dyall, who died in January after a three-year fight with breast cancer.
Janette was Paul’s sister and Gerry’s best friend.
Her fight with breast cancer inspired Paul to undertake a 24-hour cycling event, aptly called Ride24, which last year raised more than $45,000 for the McGrath Foundation.
