Castlemaine theatre company Three’s A Crowd are in their final preparations for Sweeney Todd.
The Sondheim musical follows the Demon Barber of Fleet Street and his landlady Mrs Lovett as they carve up unsuspecting London folk and bake them into pies.
The nefarious scheme is part of Sweeney Todd’s plan to take revenge on the people who killed his wife and stole his daughter many years ago.
Peter Hunt takes on the title role of Sweeney Todd while Penny Larkins has been cast as Mrs Lovett.
Three's a Crowd has drawn on talent from Castlemaine, Bendigo and beyond with Rebecca Morton, Briega Young, Peter Bevin, Paul Waldron, Dan Sexton, Greg Pascoe, Alice Bottomley, Maddy Tyzzer and Monique Kerr supporting Hunt and Larkins on stage.
Sweeney Todd is on at the Phee Broadway Theatre in Barker Street, Castlemaine, on April 20, 21, 27 and 28 at 7.30pm and April 22 at 2pm. Tickets are $35 or $50 for premium seating (including a pie and ale before the show).
