With all of last season's premiership line-up returning, Sandhurst is well-placed in its bid to repeat as champions. A similarly well settled Gisborne and strengthened Eaglehawk loom as major threats to back-to-back flags.

Arrivals: Kate Blake, Jess Cox, Olivia McCartney, Ireland Letson, Tamika Mayes, Ella Whitehead, Matilda Roworth, Jakari Bonanno.
Operations manager’s comments: “The club is developing a three year netball plan, with the vision of becoming a high-performance sporting club, and developing pathways for players and staff, a highly-engaged community, sustainable financial stability, active membership growth and a place where people want to be.” – Michael Blake
EAGLEHAWK
Last year: Fifth
Best and fairest: Ashley Ryan.
Arrivals: Amy Jackman (Newbridge), Emmalea Wishart (Cohuna).
Coach’s comment: “We have retained most of our players, so we have filled any gaps where needed. I believe we have a lot of talent. I think all senior players are fighting hard for selection in final teams and all are stepping up to be noticed.” – Mali Roberts
GISBORNE
Last year: Third.
Best and fairest: Maddy Stewart.
Arrivals: Simone Trevillian (returning).
Departures: Holly Burnip (injured).
Coach’s comment: “I think if any team says it’s not looking to win a grand final it’s kidding itself, that’s what we are there for, to try and get our team into a grand final and win it. Going one or two spots better than last year is definitely the aim.” – Kim Bailey
GOLDEN SQUARE
Last year: Second
Best and fairest: Meg Gilbert
Arrivals: Bree Heiden (Kangaroo Flat), Ally Symons (South Bendigo), Carly Geary (Colbinabbin), Millie Donegan (A-reserve).
Departures: Gabe Richards, Kelly Wilson, Andrea Wilson (all basketball), Meg Gilbert (Ballarat), Allira Holmes (travelling), Lucy Morcom (Mitiamo), Georgia Anderson (Mitiamo).
Coach’s comment: “It’s a building year for us, but I’m confident we’ll be competitive. It’s a young squad, and they will be raring to go. We had a huge turnout for our trials this season, including over 55 for our 17-and-under tryouts.” – Kendyl Hopley.
KANGAROO FLAT
Last year: Fourth.
Best and fairest: Ruby Barkmeyer
Arrivals: Annie Spehr (Strathfieldsaye), Brooke Lawry (South Bendigo), Melanie Politis (Adelaide), Bree Bentley (YCW/umpiring), Ella Bates (Barwon Heads), Shae Cairns (Numurkah).
Departures: Ruby Barkmeyer (Kangaroo Flat), Jamie Lee-Clohesy (South Bendigo), Bree Heiden (Golden Square).
Coach’s comment: “We looked pretty good in the Rochester tournament and I’m sure our fitness will serve us well early in the season. We have a tough first match against Gisborne, which will give us a good guide of where we need to be, but we’re aiming for a top-three spot. Losing Ruby and Jamie-Lee, we’ll have a new goaling circle, but having Annie (Spehr), Brooke (Lawry), and Adrienne (Murphy) and Julia (Clarke) from our A-reserve team last year, each of those girls are putting their hand up for a spot in A-grade.” – Jayden Cowling
KYNETON
Last year: Ninth
Best and fairest: Rachel Marshall
Arrivals: Emma Haugh, Lily Nolte, Caroline Rutledge, Alex Fearn, Janika Veitch.
Departures: Tayla Callaway, Chloe Tunzi, Ashley Coxhell.
No A-grade team in 2018.
MARYBOROUGH
Last year: Eighth
Best and fairest: Jordan Macilwain
Arrivals: Courtney McLean (Ballarat Lakers), Keely Hare (17-and-under).
Departures: Anika Munn, Kaitlyn John.
Coach’s comment: “There’s a few players who have gone to the outer leagues, so we are still looking for players. But I envisage our A-grade will be strong. They’re very switched on and I’m sure the talent is there.” – Deb Symes
SANDHURST
Last year: Premiers
Best and fairest: Heather Oliver
Arrivals and departures: Same A-grade line-up as last season.
Coach’s comments: “We will have the exact same team. We will have a few girls who will be in and out during the season with work commitments, university etc., but that gives the A-reserve girls an opportunity to come up and play. That’s made Tam and my lives pretty easy in the off-season, not having to recruit for major positions. Instead of having extra girls on the sidelines, we like to give our A-res and B-grade girls a chance to come up and play.”- Heather Oliver, who is joint coach with Tamara Gilchrist
SOUTH BENDIGO
Last year: Seventh
Best and fairest: Lorrae Closter.
Arrivals: Jamie-Lee Clohesy (Kangaroo Flat); Maddison Wild (Bendigo Spirit/Lady Braves), Paige Randall (Lockington-Bamawm United), Tegan Childs (Shepparton Swans), Sheridan Hall (Shepparton), Taylor French (Heathcote).
Departures: Brooke Lawry (Kangaroo Flat), Monica Wellington, Ally Symonds (Golden Square), Lorrae Closter (Heathcote).
Coach’s comment: “Like everyone at this time of the year I suppose, I’m definitely aiming to finish in finals. The girls too have all set their goals pretty high and are aiming to finish in the top five. It’s obviously going to take a while (with our new inclusions), but the girls are really starting to gel and are continuing to work hard.” – Jannelle Hobbs
STRATHFIELDSAYE
Last year: Sixth
Best and fairest: Claudia Powell

Coach’s comment: “I think we will still be a good match for everybody and very competitive. The challenge will be to continue developing through the season. Alice Layton is a player we rate very highly and she’s been given a chance to step up from the under-17s.” – Kathryn Gilmore, who is joint coach with Amy Davies
