LAST YEAR: 4th – 10-8
NEW Mitiamo coach Andy Grant believes his side still has the capabilities of retaining its position in the top five, despite the loss of its No.1 ruckman and leading goalkicker of the past two years.
Among the outs for the Superoos are former coach Justin Maddern, who kicked 174 goals in his two years at Mitiamo, as well as ruckman Mitch Sidebottom.
“The league looks like it’s going to improve, but we’re certainly aiming for the top five again and we’ll take it from there,” Grant said.
“We have been around the mark for a couple of years and I think we’ll bat a lot deeper than we have been, but we’ve obviously got the challenge of having to find the 80 goals we’ve lost in Harry (Maddern).”
New recruits to the Superoos include tenacious triple Golden Square premiership player Clayton Anderson, who is likely to play a utility role.
The Superoos have also signed 2001 BFNL Michelsen medallist Lucas Matthews – now in his late 30s – to play through the midfield.
The Superoos have also added Matthew Trewhella, a QAFL representative last year and Mansfield premiership player, who Grant says could fill key position roles at either end of the ground.
