After not losing a game through the home and away season, the Suns were made to work hard by Bendigo in the grand final.
The Goers posted a competitive 9-144 on day one thanks to fine contributions from skipper Aden Shanahan (53) and Joel Bothe (29 not out).
Strathdale’s best bowler was Nathan Walker (2-17), who followed up on Sunday with a man of the match performance in the Suns’ fourth XI grand final win. Walker made 50 retired with the bat and took 5-12 with the ball.
Strathdale’s under-16 batsmen passed Bendigo’s score on Sunday with six wickets and nine overs to spare.
Opener Cooper Smith set up the win with a fine 41, while Sam Conforti (38), Noah Walsh (21) and Will Edwards (20 not out) batted well.
Strathfieldsaye (7-121) upset minor premier Kangaroo Flat (53) in the under-14A grand final.
Campbell Tangey (3-3) and Bayden Hunter (3-8) did the damage with the ball for the Jets before Luke Rodda (30 retired) played a fine knock.
Kangaroo Flat was best served by Malachy Lahtz (3-17) and Lachlan Watts (12).
In under-16B, Huntly-North Epsom (145) scored a 69-run win over Marong (76).
Skipper Flynn Campbell (50 off 62) and Jesse Trenfield (35) ensured the Power posted a competitive total.
Marong’s Fraser Stewart had the fine figures of 3-2.
In reply, Brock Burns (23) was the only Panther to reach double figures against a well-drilled Power bowling line-up.
Brayden McHeyzer-Bacchin took 3-6 for the premiers, while Campbell completed a man of the match performance with bowling figures of 2-8.
Maiden Gully celebrated premiership glory in under-14B.
Maiden Gully (120) held off a gallant Strathfieldsaye (101) by 19 runs at Spring Gully.
Caelen Berry (32 not out) was the star with the bat for Maiden Gully, while Xavier Dingfelder-Hope made 19.
Maiden Gully youngster Robert Douglas claimed career-best figures of 4-18.
The Jets’ best were Tom Bolton (12 and 2-26), Nick Wellman (2-13) and Koby Westcott (2-18).
