Margaret’s grand daughter Bree Blake said her grandmother had recently spent a lot of time within the rehabilitation ward at the hospital.
“She wanted to give something back to the hospital after they took such great care of her,” Mrs Blake said.
It took Margaret approximately seven months to create the cross stitch and the frame was handmade by her late husband Patrick Byrne.
St John of God Bendigo Hospital director of mission integration Phil Bretherton said Margaret was very keen to donate the cross stitch in appreciation of the outstanding care she received as a patient.
“It seems very appropriate at this time with Easter preparations and the Easter story about to unfold,” Mr Bretherton said.
The Last Supper is a 15th century painting originally created by Leonardo da Vinci which depicts Jesus with his apostles.
