Adam Margolis, 38, has been charged with the murder of a 20-year-old woman between February 24 and 25.
He appeared by video link in the Bendigo Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
During the brief hearing, police requested more time from the court to gather “digital evidence” in relation to the alleged murder.
Detectives from interstate will be called on to help in the investigation, the court heard.
Emergency services attended the address in Butler Street overnight between February 25 and 26 where they discovered the woman’s body.
Police formally charged Margolis with murder on March 2.
Margolis – with long hair and a beard – sat silently in court until he was asked to describe medication required for a prior back injury.
He did not apply for bail and was remanded in custody to appear in the Bendigo Magistrates’ Court on August 8.
