Former state and federal Greens leader Bob Brown says Tasmania will “get what they vote for”, describing the 2018 election as the most “bought” in the state’s history.

As voting results come to hand, Mr Brown said it looked certain the Liberals would achieve a majority government met by a “tough” opposition, including a number of Greens candidates.
“This won’t be the worst result for the Greens,” he said.
“We have come back from harder results in the past.
“The next four years will no doubt be the most turbulent Tasmania has ever seen.”

Mr Brown said the 2018 election had been bought by the gambling industry and pro-pokies lobby, adding it was unlikely a Liberal government would lead to any electoral reforms.
“The money that has bought this election can be put down to the pokies lobby, both in Tasmania and interstate,” he said.
“Will Hodgman has done everything in his power to cover it all up.
“That won’t change now and if anything I think there will be far more secrecy under this government.
“But if that is what people vote for, that is what they get.”
