The Pioneers will have 13 players pull on the Pioneers’ jumper for the first time.
Seven of the 13 players will be playing their first game of competitive football.
“It’s exciting to see these girls playing footy for the first time,’’ Pioneers’ girls coach Shawn McCormick said.
“We’ll go into every game hoping to win, but this competition is about the pathway and we want to develop these girls.
“We go into this season with more depth than we had last year and we’re confident this group has a lot of upside – not only for the next few weeks, but over the next couple of years.”
Midfielder Megan Williamson, from Worrinen, has been appointed captain, while her Worrinen team-mate Jordan Jolliffe and Bendigo Thunder’s Kodi Jacques have been elected vice-captains.
The Pioneers play the Western Jets on Saturday at Epsom-Huntly Recreation Reserve from 1pm.
It’s the first of five home matches for the Bendigo Pioneers in the nine-round season.
