The first in a series of five beginner golf clinics hits off tomorrow, with the aim of increasing the female participation rate.
Golf Victoria regional development officer Mark Bamford, who will run the clinics with the help of Belvoir Park members, said they were equally designed for women wanting to return to the game.
“The Play Golf Women’s program is the ideal way for beginners to get involved in golf,” he said.
“Like many other sports, starting off can feel quite daunting but these five weeks of clinics are specifically designed to make participants feel as comfortable as possible and teach them the basics of the game in a non-competitive environment.
“In 2017, over 950 new women entered the game through these clinics in regional Victoria and the more of these clinics we have, the more opportunity we give to those who want to take up the great sport of golf.”
The clinics start on February 9 and continue on February 16 and 23 and March 9 and 16.
They run from 9.30am to 10.30am. Cost is $50.
The club will also run a nine-session ‘Hit it, kick it, or throw it’ social beginner program from April 20 to June 20.
Cost is $90.
