The South Bendigo Athletics Club star clocked a time of 4:47.1 as Melbourne University’s Katrina Anderson fought on to win gold in 4:45.7.
Several athletes from Flack Advisory Bendigo Region competed at the fourth leg of the Victorian Milers Club season.
Bendigo University’s Andy Buchanan contested the men’s open Victorian Mile title and was ninth to finish in 4:10.2.
Gold was won by Luke Mathews from St Kevin’s in 4:00.6.
Contenders for the women’s B-Mile included Yazmin Hayes from South Bendigo Athletics Club who was 11th in 5:15.6.
In the men’s B-Mile, Michael Preece clocked a time of 4:30.5 to be 16th as University’s Matthew Heislers was next best in 4:31.6.
It was a terrific feat by Heislers who has fought back from several injury setbacks in the past 18 months.
South Bendigo’s Archie Reid raced in the C-Mile and was 10th in 4:31.8.
University’s Wil McCaig moved up to D-grade and ran 4:42.7 to be in 14th place.
There were more than 460 entries for the Milers Meet.
