Stroobants is back in the VFL this year with the Kangaroos in their inaugural stand-alone season and has been named among their leadership group of six.
Following the demise of the Bendigo Gold at the end of the 2014 VFL season, class forward Stroobants has spent the past three years in the Goulburn Valley league with Rochester, kicking 193 goals in 61 games.
Stroobants captained the Gold in their two stand-alone seasons in 2013 and 2014, while he has also played with South Bendigo and the Bendigo Pioneers.
North Melbourne has a VFL list of 24 players that as well as Stroobants includes Sandhurst 2016 premiership player Koe Nagawati and ruckman Jordan Mangan from Kyneton.
North Melbourne’s VFL team will be coached by David Loader.
The Roos have the bye in the opening round.
