Leading Senior Constable Mick Balazs said a $10,000 Quintrex fishing boat was also stolen on Sunday morning, pushing the total value of the stolen items to more than $20,000.
The boat was stolen from a vacant block in Park Street, not far from the caravan park where the other thefts took place.
RELATED COVERAGE:
Leading Senior Constable Balazs said it was one of the most significant thefts in Bridgewater in recent times, with multiple victims and the culprit stealing items from car fridges to ski equipment.
“It’s expensive stuff,” he said.
The man believed to be responsible for the thefts was seen leaving the west bank of Loddon River opposite the caravan park in a sapphire blue mid-90s Ford Falcon ute about 8am Sunday.
It was a busy weekend in Bridgewater and at the caravan park with the 2018 Australian Masters Water Ski Championships being held in the town.
Leading Senior Constable Balazs said unfortunately the theft proved people couldn't leave things unlocked in the town.
“I’m rapt they feel comfortable but we need to lock things up and stop being complacent,” he said.
“We’ve got to change those views.”
