The City of Greater Bendigo will screen the Australian Open tennis on Tuesday and Wednesday from 11am and the one-day international cricket match between Australia and England on Friday from 2.20pm to 10.30pm.
Council’s CBD Activation support officer Joanna Gibson said screenings followed a positive response to similar events.
“We had a pleasing response to the first two sessions of the Ashes where we did the same thing,” she said.
“(We) are providing a screen and shade and seating. It is an opportunity for people to catch some tennis while they are on their lunch break or walking through or while perhaps other family members are shopping.”
Flight Bar and Bottleshop will also provide a pop-up bar for the cricket telecast.
“People can come down after work, have a drink, watch some cricket and choose some food from any of the local food businesses,” Ms Gibson said.
The screenings will be cancelled in the event of rain or extreme weather.
