Lowndes was killed when he was struck by a car while on a training ride in Mandurang last Friday.
Lowndes' family, friends and team-mates and the general public will unite in Ballarat to do a "Lap for Lowndesy" around the national championship course at Buninyong.
Anyone who would like to take part in the "Lap for Lowndesy" are asked to meet at De Soza Park in Buninyong at 8.30am on January 4.
"Lap for Lowndesy" is the brainchild of Lowndes' former team-mate Brenton Jones.
“It will be a chance for everyone to honour his life, which was filled with so many memorable achievements and times we all shared, on the bike doing what he loved,’’ Jones posted on Facebook.
“Following this, we will all be heading to the nearest café to enjoy a brew for our mate. I know he’d love to see us all out there remembering what an incredible young man he was.’’
