The Superoos have appointed former Eaglehawk seniors and juniors coach Kylie Piercy as a partner to season 2017 coach Jenny Clohesy.
The duo will coach both the A and B-grade teams.
Clohesy, who has led the Superoos to grand finals in both her seasons at the helm (2016 and ’17), hoped the dual coaching set-up might be the tonic needed to lift the club to an overdue premiership.
“I think we need to bring someone in and hopefully get a transition plan happening,” she said.
“I’ve known Kylie a long-time. Her mum was involved in netball when I was coming through.
“I’ve played with her mum and I’ve played with Kylie – she’s a good get for the club.”
Piercy and Clohesy will take control of a Superoos team, which lost only two games last season and four the season before.
Frustratingly for Clohesy, two of those six defeats came in grand finals, including a 45-38 loss to Pyramid Hill in the 2017 premiership decider at Serpentine.
“You couldn’t really fault the girls during the year,” she said.
“We’ve just got to put it together on grand final day, which I know we can.
“With Kylie around, she might just be our secret weapon.
Piercy’s involvement in 2017 included a manager’s role with the AFL Central Victoria and as team manager of the 17-and-under North Central representative team.
The Superoos held a pair of tryouts last week at the Golden City netball courts and will hold another early in the new year.
Clohesy expected there would be some changes in playing personnel in the top grade, but expected player losses to be minimal.
Other confirmed Loddon Valley A-grade coaching appointments are Claudia Powell (Bridgewater); Cara Bastian (Bears Lagoon-Serpentine); Lizzie Wiggins (Inglewood); Benita Swatton (Maiden Gully-YCW); Linda Bickerdike (Marong); Rachel Pettifer (Newbridge); Zoe Kennedy (Pyramid Hill).
