It will be launched on Sunday as part of the town’s community carols celebrations in Axedale Park.
City of Greater Bendigo Councillor Yvonne Wrigglesworth said the plan is the result of considerable effort by the Axedale Our Town Our Future working team.
“The plan has been developed following a survey of the local community,” she said.
“Axedale Our Town Our Future also provided other opportunities for community members to meet each other and to have their say about what is important for the future development of Axedale.
“The new plan is an important piece of work that features a range of priorities and identifies a number of initiatives for the year ahead.”
Public transport, safety and maintaining the town centre’s attractiveness are initial priorities of the plan.
“Other priorities for 2018 include facilitating opportunities for community members to come together in good-quality flexible spaces and organising larger community events that encourage newcomers,” Cr Wrigglesworth said.
“A big priority for the community is also the need to be well prepared for a potential emergency and to ensure we have a greater awareness of the needs of vulnerable community members in times of an emergency.
“Axedale residents are keen to share information and ideas about what community members can do before, during and after an emergency event.”
Cr Wrigglesworth said community plan’s goals were in line with those set for the whole municipality through the council’s vision to create the world’s most livable community.
“Community members are invited to come together for Community Carols and the launch of the revised plan and enjoy the company of others,” she said.
“We are asking individuals and groups interested in taking part to get in touch with an Axedale Our Town, Our Future member on the night.”
Copies of the plan will be available at the Axedale Community Carols and on www.axedale.com.au or www.bendigo.vic.gov.au after the launch.
