EARLIER: Police are investigating a series of burglaries, car thefts and a car fire they believe to be related.
Police and the CFA were called to Viola Street in Huntly about 7.40am Thursday to a report of a car fire.
They found an Isuzu D-MAX ute fully alight about 50 metres off the road, a jerry can nearby.
The vehicle was stolen in Bagshot on Monday.
John Watts, from Huntly CFA, said it appeared the offenders had used petrol to set the vehicle alight, which also resulted in a small area of grass being burnt.
The fire was put out within about 10 minutes.
Acting Sergeant Lee Clayton said it was believed the people responsible for the fire then stole another vehicle, a Ford Ranger, nearby.
That vehicle is yet to be located.
It is believed the keys to that vehicle were taken during one of two burglaries reported in Huntly on Thursday morning.
The first burglary was reported about 7am and the second after 8am.
Police are treating all the incidents as being connected.
Witnesses have reported seeing two males around the area.
