Christmas carols, market and food stalls and extended shopping hours are planned for the community’s annual Christmas on High event on December 14.
Celebrations start at 5pm. Shops will be open until 8pm that day. Santa is scheduled to arrive at 7.30pm.
Organisers have invited community groups and businesses not located in High Street to join in the fun by decorating empty shop windows.
A panel of non-locals will award the best window the inaugural Christmas Spirit Cup.
A Christmas hamper will be awarded to the occupants of the best decorated house in the Wedderburn area.
“This is a great initiative, which not only encourages people to get into the Christmas spirit, but also asks the community to spend their money locally,” Loddon Shire Council tourism and marketing officer Robyn Vella said.
Houses and shop windows must be decorated by Friday to be eligible to win.
Registration forms are available from the Loddon Visitor Information Centre.
The initiative is organised by the Loddon Visitor Information Centre and Wedderburn Community House.
