A man accused of lighting two fires near Rochester over the weekend has been charged with eight arson-related offences.

The Kyabram man, 49, was charged with two counts of lighting a fire in open air without authority, using fire to endanger property, using fire to damage property and criminal damage by fire.
Senior Constable Josh Coombs, of Echuca Criminal Investigation Unit, said the man was arrested and charged on Sunday following the alleged fires at Nanneella.
He was bailed to appear at the Echuca Magistrates’ Court on January 16.
Senior Constable Coombs said the alleged fires occurred on Webb Road at 10pm on Saturday and were both roughly 50 by 10 metres in size.
