The restrictions mean you cannot light a fire in the open air unless you have a permit or comply with certain requirements.
The North Central District includes the Mount Alexander Shire, and the council’s emergency management coordinator, Jason Amos, said fire preparations around the shire were going well but the community needs to stay vigilant.
“If you haven’t already, make sure you clear out gutters, move stacks of wood away from your home and regularly mow your lawns,” he said.
“It’s also important to spend time now to finalise your fire plan. This will help you to remember what needs to be done during an emergency.”
Mount Alexander Shire Council encouraged residents to download the VicEmergency app for rating updates and emergency alerts to be sent directly to your phone.
