Descendants of Bendigo soldiers who served in World War I helped place the Field of Remembrance in the Queen Victoria Gardens on Friday.
It was one of a number of Remembrance Day initiatives scheduled to take place in the Bendigo area, with services planned for Saturday.
The Bendigo service will start at 10.40am at the Bendigo District RSL Complex at 73-75 Havilah Road, due to renovations to the Soldiers Memorial Institute.
The Eaglehawk service will be held from 10:45am at the Eaglehawk Memorial, Brassey Square.
Bendigo’s Field of Remembrance started in 2015, on Anzac Day eve, to mark the 100th anniversary of the Gallipoli landings.
It has grown ever since, expanding by a further 40 crosses on Friday.
The field is expected to comprise of 400 crosses by November 2018 – the centenary of the Armistice to end fighting in World War I.
