Sprintcar action from the Victorian Sprintcar Association drivers will be as exciting as ever with those powerful ‘things with wings’ putting their LS1 powered racers through their paces.
Early indications are the likes of Shane Steenholdt, Dave Dennison, Adam Greenwood, Mark Laity and Jason Langdon should all be at Rushworth on Saturday.
Standard Saloon racing comes to town with a couple of local club members and residents from surrounding areas having stepped into the class this season.
Big Rahmon Rivero will be competing in Standard Saloons this year, however this Saturday night he will be a hard working volunteer for his Goulburn Valley Auto Club.
The category has attracted the big draw card of Scott Whittle, from Geelong, who is a multiple times Victorian champion.
He will be challenged by Victoria # 2 driver Shane Stewart, who will travel all the way from Morwell to compete, along with Victorian # 3 driver Jacob Vuillermin, also from Gippsland.
Brad and Russell Hill will come from Melbourne and they just finished second and third to Whittle last weekend in Ballarat, while Nick Chrystie, who won a feature race at Nyora in South Gippsland, is another competitor to keep your eyes on when it comes to the feature race.
Paul Lamb and Adam Box will continue their competition in the Open Saloons, with Lamb having taken out the honours at the first meeting of the season.
Chloe Lamb and Felicity Roycroft will do the same in the Ladies and Lachie Fitzpatrick will have his hands full in the Junior Sedans.
Action in the Production Sedans looks wide open with a number of competitors a likely and possible winner, headed by Geoff Lee, Leigh Jeffery, Shane Hutchins, Ian Wilson and Troy Britton.
Racing begins from 4pm with entry costs $25 per adult, $15 for aged pensioners, children 12 to 16
$12.and under-12 free.
A family of two adults and two children is $60.
