Hopley, who led the Bulldogs to three consecutive A-reserve premierships from 2014-16, replaces 2017 coach Allira Holmes.
The Bulldogs finished 2017 as runner-up to Sandhurst and contested their fourth consecutive grand final.
Hopley will take charge for the first time this week as the Bulldogs hold the first of four tryouts for returning and prospective senior players.
In other coaching appointments, life member and premiership player Jody Richards will coach the Bulldogs’ A-reserve team.
Richards, who has been involved as a coach of Golden Square’s junior program, is also coach with the AFL Central Victoria program.
Another premiership player Aimee Ryan will continue as B-grade coach and Tess Davies will remain as B-reserve coach after leading the Bulldogs to a grand final appearance in 2017.
Melinda Keighran also continues as 17-and-under coach after guiding the Bulldogs to a top three finish in 2017.
The BFNL’s 17-and-under inter-league coach will take charge of a new-look squad, with six players from last year’s team stepping up to senior grade netball.
Tryouts for senior players will be held on Thursday, November 9 and Wednesday, November 15 at 6pm (5.45pm arrival).
The Bulldogs will hold two further tryouts in the new year on January 24 and 30.
Trials for 17-and-under players start this Wednesday (November 8) and continue on November 13, with a third date on November 21 if needed.
