V/Line tweeted that the 5.53pm Southern Cross service to Bendigo will not run due to staff illness. Passengers will board road coaches departing from Southern Cross.
A V/Line spokesperson said several V/Line train drivers are away ill today, which means some services across the network have been replaced by coaches.
They said the company does its best to cover shifts when employees are unavailable due to illness, however today we’ve had to replace some trains with coaches.
“We always make alternative transport arrangements for passengers when a train service cannot run for any reason, to get them where they need to go,” the spokesperson said.
“We’d like to thank passengers for their patience today, while we replace some train services with coaches.”
The spokesperson also said staff sickness is outside our control and trains were only replaced with coaches as a last resort.
Service changes are communicated to passengers via the V/Line website, smartphone app and on Twitter, as well as via SMS and email notifications for those signed up to Inform.
