Trevor Matheson will take on the role from October 30 after serving as the hospital’s acting CEO since early August.
It follows the resignation of former CEO Darren Rogers for personal reasons.
In a statement, St John of God Bendigo hospital said Mr Matheson had been able to establish “considerable local knowledge of the hospital” during the last two months.
A nurse by background, Mr Matheson was the CEO at Dudley Private Hospital in Orange for four years, and was the acting CEO, deputy director of medical services and director of nursing at Mildura.
Mr Matheson said he was looking forward to taking on the role in a permanent capacity.
“With the newly completed redevelopment, I am looking forward to being able to offer the community more services as the growth in the region continues,” he said.
“I think it’s an exciting time to step into the role of CEO at St John of God Bendigo."
