VICTORIAN Seniors Festival attendees have seized the opportunity to explore some of the city’s attractions.
Events in the City of Greater Bendigo included a tour of the Great Stupa of Universal Compassion.
Immersed in the serenity and beauty of the grounds, Bendigo couple John and Margaret Justice had the opportunity to reflect on the area’s history.
“We’ve been coming here for years – decades,” Mrs Justice said.
The site was home to the old Sandhurst Town tourist attraction, when they first knew it.
“We’ve actually seen it grow,” Mrs Justice said.
“It’s just a beautiful place – it’s so peaceful.”
The festivities in Bendigo run until Sunday.
Tomorrow’s events include community broadcaster Phoenix FM’s open day; a performance by Bendigo Senior Secondary College students; a celebration of LGBTI elders, friends and allies; dance and yoga classes; and a performance of Gilbert and Sullivan’s Trial by Jury.
