Robins was appointed the Blues new coach late last week and one of the first people to congratulate him was his Eaglehawk premiership team-mate Matt Gretgrix.
Charlton is Gretgrix’s and Eaglehawk skipper Tim Hill’s home town.
“Gerta congratulated me, but I know he’s locked in at Eaglehawk next year,’’ Robins said.
“They (Gretgrix and Hill) have things they want to achieve at Eaglehawk still and, to be honest, they’d be made to leave there now.”
Robins takes on the role at Charlton after leaving his home club the Southern Mallee Giants.
The 2006 Michelsen Medal winner said he was looking forward to the challenge of returning Charlton to the top of the North Central Football League table.
“Over the last decade I’ve met some good friends through Charlton and I really wanted to go to a family club,’’ Robins said.
“I coached at home in 2011 and 2012 and I feel as though I’m ready to give it another go.
“I’m 33 now, so I’m keen to coach for a few years.”
Robins made his mark in Bendigo footy at centre-half forward and centre half-back, but in the past two years he’s played mainly as a deep forward and kicked tallies of 117 and 120 goals.
“The plan at this stage would be for me to play at full-forward and swap at centre-half-forward at times,’’ Robins said.
