Cochrane – the Thunder’s joint best and fairest this year – polled 69 votes to take out the award by three from Darebin’s Tamara Olcorn.
Cochrane winning the coaches award continues what has been a big week for the young gun from Castlemaine after she has also been named as one of 47 players invited to the first AFL Women’s Draft Combine.
The Draft Combine will be held at Etihad Stadium on October 3 and 4 ahead of the AFLW Draft on October 18.
Also invited to the Draft Combine is Woorinen’s Eden Zanker, who played with the Bendigo Pioneers’ under-18 girls team this year.
Meanwhile, the Thunder’s vice-captain Jac Louttit finished runner-up in the NFL women’s best and fairest with 13 votes, one behind Darebin’s Shannon Egan.
Thunder team-mate Kerryn Harrington was third with 12 votes.
