BENDIGO Senior Secondary College has been crowned state champions after winning the School Sport Victoria senior girls’ basketball final in Melbourne on Wednesday.

BSSC advanced to the final with wins in each of its three round-robin games against Greensborough Secondary College (57-3), Sunbury Secondary College (48 -31), and Ballarat High School (62-22), and finished top-placed in its pool.
The Lions, who were coached by Bendigo Lady Braves mentor Jonathan Goodman, established an early lead in the final against Box Hill Secondary College and were able to control the contest throughout the game.
They won 41-31.
The team comprised a trio of players from the Lady Braves SEABL south conference championship team in Jess Rennie, Hayley Harrington and Ahlise Hurst, alongside Brooke Mangan, Rachelle Mangan, Elisa Pica, Shardae Sharp, Poppy Blanch and Keisha Tonzing.
