A 2014 SS Commodore wagon was left in the Bendigo Coles car park between 3am and 11.30am, near the undercover entrance to the supermarket.
The owner returned to find the rear passenger-side door had a long key mark across it.
Senior Constable Holly Oldmeadow said CCTV cameras were just out of range, and it was a random incident.
“An unknown person has come along and keyed the width of the passenger-side door,” she said.
“It’s estimated it caused $400 damage.”
A second person had their car keyed near Target on King Street on Friday afternoon.
The owner parked their silver Hyundai ix35 in the free car park at the intersection with Edwards Street between 3pm and 3.30pm, and returned to find it had been keyed.
Anyone with information can contact Senior Constable Oldmeadow at Bendigo police on 5448 1300.
