The 34-year-old was arrested in Freeman Drive and is assisting police with their inquiries.
EARLIER: Police are at the scene of a car fire in a residential street in Kangaroo Flat.
Firefighters were called to the scene in Freeman Drive just before 9am, where a car was parked in the front yard of a house.
When crews arrived, they found the car fully alight with fuel leaking from underneath.
Police have blocked access to the house and car with police tape.
Lieutenant James O’Brien from the Kangaroo Flat Fire Brigade said no one was at home at the time of the fire and they were unsure of the circumstances surrounding the blaze.
Two CFA trucks and a big fill appliance from Kangaroo Flat attended as well as one pumper from Bendigo.
