Motorists arriving into Echuca could eventually be greeted with a new-look Northern Highway if Campaspe shire service road designs win community approval.
Concept plans service roads adjoining the highway, which would form the entry into Echuca, are now on display and letters have been sent to landowners in the area.
The shire’s mayor, Adrian Weston, said plans to create service roads alongside the highway would not only beautify the area but also create a safer, more accessible town entrance.
“Entrances to a town are an important part of their amenity, especially towns which have a large tourism industry,” Cr Weston said.
An information session has been coordinated to assist in informing the community and respond to any questions at the Campaspe Regional Library on Tuesday, 29 August, starting at 7pm.
But no funds were allocated to the works, Cr Weston explained, and the concept would need to be given the community’s nod of approval before being finalised.
Council and VicRoads representatives will front a community forum about the proposed development next Tuesday night inside the Campaspe Regional Library.
