The man, aged in his 50s, died at the scene on private property shortly late this afternoon.

An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said paramedics were called to the property just after 3pm "for a man who had been injured by a bull."

He was in a critical condition at the time, but later died.

Police are preparing a report for the coroner following an "animal incident" at a private property in Bamawm, south of Echuca, just before 4pm, a police spokesman said.

"A man aged in his 50s died at the scene and Worksafe is investigating," he said.

Police and ambulance declined to give any more details on the incident.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
