The woman, in her 40s, was mauled by a police dog while walking with her daughter along a bike path on Eaglehawk-Neilborough Road on March 28.
The dog squad was in the area for a ‘planned’ police operation in the nearby Howard Street, Jackass Flat. The woman was not connected to the operation and the bike path was not included in police road blocks.
A Victoria Police spokesperson said on Monday the investigation was near completion.
“Victoria Police continue to provide assistance to the woman and her family,” the spokesperson said.
