That is where the Australian Red Cross hand-crafted ‘trauma teddies’ come in, giving comfort to children and adults who are ill, experiencing a natural disaster or in the midst of another emergency.
To provide this service, Danielle Kelly from the Australian Red Cross’ Bendigo office is looking for people to help knit the teddies.
People can knit a teddy themselves, following the Red Cross pattern and guidelines, or they can pick up pre-knitted bodies of the teddies and assemble them.
There are dozens of teddies waiting to be assembled in Bendigo.
Once finished, the teddies are distributed to a wide range of services to give to people in need.
To get involved in the trauma teddy project, call Ms Kelly on 5443 5972.
