The 150-year-old Weir Street cottage in Kangaroo Flat was erected in 1867 using stone quarried from the very land on which it was built.
The four-bedroom Hope Park was designed by Scottish architect David Weir.
The cottage is characterised by its steeped gables, stone fireplaces and timber floors, features of the cottage orne design movement.
The house has remained in the hands of the same family for more than one century.
Over the course of those 100 years, the house has watched over a dairy farm and horse stud, as well as a poultry business.
The Kangaroo Flat property is one of several historic Bendigo homes listed for sale in recent months, a market real estate experts said was attracting buyers with an interest in the region’s past.
Real estate agent Greg Fathers described the property as a “a once in a lifetime opportunity”.
