The black four-wheel-drive was written off in the collision, but there were no reported injuries. A number of young children were traveling in the four-wheel-drive at the time.
EARLIER: Emergency services are attending a two-car crash in the Bendigo central business district.
The collision occurred about 3pm on the corner of Chapel and McCrae streets and the southbound lane is blocked, leaving only one lane open to traffic.
Access to Chapel Street is also blocked and traffic is being diverted at Baxter Street.
The most extensively damaged vehicle is a black four-wheel-drive which remains in the middle of the intersection and the other vehicle is a white Toyota Hilux.
Police, fire and ambulance personnel are on scene.
