Senior Constable Bree George said the white Holden Commodore appeared to be connected to three burglaries, spanning three towns – Bendigo, Echuca and Rochester.

The Echuca officer said the car was spotted by a police patrol in Ogilvie Avenue, while it was waiting in the driveway of a business about 3.30am.

Police officers saw two people running from the office and into the vehicle, before it took off. 

Senior Constable George said the members attempted to intercept the vehicle, which had stolen plates, but it refused and police did not pursue.

Less than 30 minutes later, Treasure House Jewellers in Rochester was burgled, Senior Constable George said, with the vehicle also involved.

“And prior to Echuca, it appears the same vehicle committed a burglary at a Bendigo service station earlier in the evening,” she said.

EARLIER: EMERGENCY services have extinguished a car fire in East Bendigo on Monday morning.

Country Fire Authority crews were alerted to the burning car, on vacant land near Murphy street, at 6.35am.

Four units from Bendigo, Eaglehawk and Golden Square attended.

Police are still at the scene.
