Doering kicked the biggest bag of goals in the NCFL so far this season with a haul of 11 on Saturday as the Tigers defeated the Saints 21.14 (140) to 11.9 (75).
The Saints had also been unable to shut down 37-year-old Doering in their round six meeting last year when he slotted 10 goals.
The Tigers put their foot down in the second term when they booted 9.4 to 2.2 to turn what had been a one-point advantage at quarter-time into a 44-point lead at the main break.
As well as Doering’s 11 goals, Lachlan Gilbert added four as the Tigers improved their record to 5-3.
Doering, Luke Martin and Nathan Wight were named best for the Tigers.
Better players for the Saints featured Daniel London, Caleb Bloomer (two goals) and Mitchell Egan.
• Wedderburn continues to do itself no favours with its inaccuracy in front of goal.
The Redbacks were beaten by 32 points by Birchip-Watchem, 11.12 (78) to 6.10 (46), at Birchip.
In their past seven games the wasteful Redbacks have kicked inaccurate scores of 6.10, 5.10, 6.16, 7.14, 8.13, 10.12 and 10.13.
Saturday’s clash was up for grabs at three quarter-time as the Bulls held a seven-point advantage.
However, the Bulls kicked the only four goals of the final term through Joseph Reid, Lachlan Foott, Charlie Hallam and Nathan Gordon to ease away and beat the Redbacks by the same margin as they did in round one.
Hallam (two goals), Jacob Christie and Michael Monteith were the best players for the Bulls, who moved from third to second with the result.
No best players were supplied for the Redbacks, who after having 4.2 to 0.1 kicked against them in the final term have now been outscored 128-3 in their past three last quarters.
• Boort dropped from second to fourth after suffering its second loss in a row at the hands of Donald.
The Royals had the better of the final term to prevail 12.12 (84) to 9.10 (64) as they again had the measure of the Magpies.
Of the three games the Magpies have lost this season, two have been to the Royals.
Donald held a six-point advantage at three quarter-time before adding three goals to one to win by 20 points.
In what’s a logjam of a ladder at the season’s halfway mark, the fifth-placed Royals (5-3) are outside the top four, yet only percentage off second position.
Donald’s best players were headed by Brody Haddow (two goals), Brenton Dixon and Darcy Harrison (two goals).
Jack Smith, Keiren Wilson, who has been Boort’s most consistent player, and Brodie Leonard-Shannon led the way for the Magpies.
• Wycheproof-Narraport recorded its second win in a row by triple figures.
The Demons followed up last round’s 142-point hiding of Wedderburn with a 117-point thumping of Charlton, 22.13 (145) to 3.10 (28).
Charlton’s three goals was an improvement on round one when the reigning premiers managed just 0.4 against the Demons.
Matt Riordan (seven goals) and coach Julian Bull (five goals) were the best for the Demons, while Anthony Judd and Dean McKay battled hard for Charlton.
