Curator Dr Kent Wilson led a candid conversation with Chapman and Lianos, exploring the ideas and processes behind their contemporary artwork. Local artist Dick Turner also shared his perspective on Lianos’ work.
Chapman’s exhibition, In Memoriam, examines acts of gun-related violence in America while Lianos’ show, Geometric Beings, features large steel sculptures embodying energy and balance.
Guests mingled with the artists and viewed LAI’s current exhibitions: Think and Feel: Abstract Art in the FM Courtis Collection; In Memoriam: Denis Chapman and Geometric Beings: George Lianos.
The gallery shows can be seen until June, with the courtyard sculptures remaining until August, at La Trobe Art Institute, 121 View Street, Bendigo.
