Last Saturday the Storm looked fantastic in defeating reigning premier Sandhurst, while Golden Square looked a shadow of its former self in scraping home against Kangaroo Flat.
The Bulldogs and Storm do battle at Golden Square on Saturday and at first glance you’d expect the Storm to make it back-to-back wins.
However, the selection table has given the Bulldogs a massive lifeline.
The Dogs regain star trio Travis Baird, Clayton Anderson and Tom Toma, while the Storm have lost four players to injury and unavailability – Sam Heavyside, Jayden Donaldson, Matt Harvey and Brad Stringer.
The Storm are also still missing midfield marvel Kellan Geary.
Square will need a lift from its forward line if it’s to upset the Storm.
Star forward Dylan Johnstone hardly touched the ball in round one and his battle with Torin Petrie or Keelan Payne will be vital to the outcome of the game.
At Canterbury Park, Eaglehawk should make it two wins from two games when it hosts Kangaroo Flat.
The Roos were gallant against Golden Square, but they don’t have the forward line power to trouble an Eaglehawk defence that is arguably the best in the competition.
