UPDATE 8.15pm: Ambulance Victoria has confirmed where all of those injured in today’s crash were transported for care.
Two teenagers were flown to the Royal Children's Hospital in a stable condition.
Three adults were taken by road to Bendigo hospital, also in a stable condition.
Another two adults and an infant were taken by road to Echuca hospital in a stable condition.
UPDATE 5.20pm: The Victoria Police major collision investigation unit is en route to the scene.
UPDATE 4.55pm: This afternoon’s fatal crash in Runnymede occurred when a 4WD veered onto the wrong side of the road, colliding with another vehicle, police have said.
A woman travelling in an oncoming Volkswagen sedan was killed. Two other women in the sedan were transported to Bendigo hospital.
The southbound 4WD and its six passengers were towing a car on a tandem trailer at the time of the collision.
Three of the four children inside the 4WD – a 15-year-old girl, as well as 14-year-old and 2-year-old boy – are at a nearby hospital.
Its driver was airlifted to Melbourne.
UPDATE, 4.45pm:
A woman has died and nine other people are being treated at the scene of a multi-vehicle collision near Elmore today.
Emergency services were called to the Northern Highway at Runnymede about 3.15pm where it is believed a semi-trailer and three other vehicles collided.
One air ambulance is already on scene while another is en route.
Ambulance officers are assessing the condition of five children and four adults.

EARLIER: Emergency services are responding to a car crash south of Elmore.
The incident on the Northern Highway in Runnymede, between River Road and Runnymede Cemetery Road, was called in about 3.15pm.
