The pursuit follows an aggravated burglary in Bamawm on Wednesday morning.
It is alleged four offenders broke into a Middleton Road home about 5am but fled when police arrived.
When their first getaway car crashed into a culvert, the targets escaped on foot, stealing a green Mazda dual-cab ute from the Rochester area.
A police spokesperson said the pursuit had to be abandoned “due to safety reasons”.
The vehicle was last seen about 7.45am on Bamawm Road heading towards Mitiamo.
Its occupants are believed to be two males wearing hoodies, and a woman.
