A great run for the AB squad included five residential records being broken.
The all-Bendigo Harriers team of Hakan Karhan, Ryan Shaw, Ben Powell and Luke Padgham raced to victory in the under-16 boys’ medley in a time of 3:43.32.
Karhan and Shaw ran the 200m legs, Powell the 400m, and Padgham the 800m trek to break the residential record for the under-16 and 17 age groups.
Another high was the performance of youngsters Nick Myers, Riley Osborne, Jack Parker and Mitchell Graham to win the under-16 4 x 400m in a time of 3:33.69.
Their slashing run was a residential record-breaking feat as they beat their nearest opponents by a massive seven seconds.
They hold the Athletics Bendigo record for this event in the under-16 and 17 age groups.
Karhan, Ryan Shaw, Ben Powell and Luke Padgham won silver in the under-16 boys 4 x 100m relay.
The quartet’s time of 44.94 seconds is a new residential record for the under-16 and 18 class.
Athletes from Eaglehawk and South Bendigo joined forces to win silver in the very competitive under-16 girls’ 4 x 400m relay.
Eaglehawk teenager Niah Langtree led off the charge strongly and passed the baton to in-form clubmate Laura Kadri.
South Bendigo’s Taryn Furletti ran well in the third leg and clubmate Lucy Zotti was impressive in the fourth leg.
Bronze was won by the 50-plus men’s team of Terry Hicks from Eaglehawk, University’s David Heislers, and Harriers’ clubmates Peter Cowell and Victor Cook in the 4 x 100m.
The same line-up broke the residential record for the 50-plus 4 x 1500m as they completed the contest in 21 minutes 30.45 seconds.
Hicks, Heislers, Cowell and Cook clocked a new residential record of 4:24.07 in the 4 x 400m relay.
