Bendigo Agricultural Show secretary Rod Bowles said it was a slow start to the morning but filled up once the children finished school and people left work.
“It’s always a bit slow to start but Friday night is always a full night,” he said.
Mr Bowles expected the showgrounds to be full today, with a big day of entertainment planned.
Highland dancing, stilt walkers, racing pigs and circus dogs are just some of the attractions on the schedule. The animal judging will also take place, and the three-day horse competition will go into its second day.
Most people were enjoying the festivities around the showgrounds yesterday, including many school groups.
Jessie Bendow and sister Chloe were having a family day with their children.
“It’s just nice to spend time with the kids,” Jessie said. “It takes me back to my childhood.”
Jesse Gardner was piled up with showbags as he watched his son Reuben on a trampoline ride.
“It’s been a great day,” Mr Gardner said. “We’ve just gone around and done everything.”
