Current breakfast co-host Erin “Ez” Ryan paid tribute to the man known to most simply as Cogho.
“You've been hosting the 3BO brekkie show for 15 years, I'm lucky enough to have done it for about six months now but so far so good,” she said.
“I just hope one day I can do it for as long as you have because you have made a massive impact to this community.”
Among well-wishers to call in to the studio to help mark the milestone was “the guy that gave you the job”, former drive host Vinnie Shannon.
“Congratulations on 50 years on the breakfast shift,” he joked, before correcting himself.
“Your jokes feel like they’re fifty years old anyway mate.”
But Mr Shannon also took the opportunity to end with a sincere compliment
“It’s an amazing effort to do 15 years of breakfast radio and at the one radio station,” he said.
