Seventeen Bendigo Special Developmental School students will make their debut at the All Seasons Hotel.
The students will be partnered by family members, friends and teachers and will make their entrance before more than 200 guests.
Special guest Rod Fyffe will receive the debutantes, in one of his final acts as mayor before Bendigonians go to the polls on October 22.
Bendigo Special Developmental School later years unit coordinator Kirsty Phillips said the students were very excited about the ball.
“They have been practicing the dances for months,” she said.
“This is a special event not only for them but their families and friends....and staff.”
This will be the school’s third debutante ball. The events have been held every two years since 2012.
“It was started to give our students the opportunity have the same experiences as all other high school students,” Ms Phillips said.
“The first two balls were driven and organised mostly by staff, but this year the ball has had a large parents’ committee, which has been involved all aspects, especially the decorations.
“All students have the opportunity to participate in the ball in one of their final two years at our school.”
