Groom: James Beavis
Date: September 12, 2015
The meeting: James and I first met in high school in year 10. We did our deb together.
The proposal: James surprised me with his proposal. He proposed to me on March 10, 2013 at Blairgowrie on the Mornington Peninsula. He had told me that we were going to a motorbike event that he was riding in. When we arrived, I was surprised as I did not see a venue for motorbikes.
James told me to park near the beach and leave my bag in the car. He said we were going for a walk along the beach near the pier. I was very confused as I couldn't understand why I wasn't allowed to take my bag with me.
With lots of questioning, James finally said that we were not going to a motorbike event. He then proceeded to tell me that we were going on a yacht - that’s when I realised something serious was about to happen.
While on the yacht, I could tell James was nervous as he kept touching his pocket and looked vey worried. This made me panic and I quickly rushed off to the toilet.
As I opened the toilet door, there was James down on one knee asking me to marry him. It was so sweet - and I wouldn't have it any other way.
The wedding day: James and I got married at the Lake House in Daylesford. This venue meant a lot to us and we had hoped that one day we would be able to get married there.
We had four girls and four guys in our bridal party, made up of family and friends. We also had our two dogs in the wedding, with one of them being the ring bearer.
We went with a pink, silver and black theme. I love the colour pink and wanted this to reflect in how we decorated and organised our wedding.
Our flowers were from the Eternal Vase in Bendigo, the girls’ dresses were bought online from 'For him and For her' and the boys suits were from Peter Anthony Menswear. A huge thank you to Haylee Kennedy from Peter Anthony's who looked after us right from the beginning. She made our wedding experience an enjoyable one.
The dress: My dress was from Fairytales Bridal in Moonee Ponds. I knew the exact style I wanted and the girls at Fairytales really looked after me.
The cake: We had Zoe Grant from G'Day Cupcake - Cakes for all Occasions design and make our wedding cake. She did such a fantastic job with making the small individual cakes, as well as all the detail that was involved.
The photographer: Our photographer was Shaun McKenna from Image Eight. He is based in Melbourne but has photographed many Lake House weddings.
The honeymoon: For our honeymoon we went to Bora Bora and Moorea for nine nights and ten days. It was the most exquisite place I have ever seen and the most romantic place for any couple. This is a place I would highly recommend for anyone. Thank you to Cassie from Flight Centre for organising our amazing vacation!
